Book author and travel journalist Kimberley Lovato has never met a journey she didn’t love and has written about the wonders of seeing and being in the world for more than 20 years. Her bylines have appeared in the New York Times, National Geographic Traveler, Virtuoso: The Magazine, CN Traveler, Travel + Leisure, AARP, Hemispheres, Ciao Bambino, and many other print and online publications.
Kimberley’s culinary travel book about the people and food of the Dordogne region of France, Walnut Wine & Truffle Groves, won the 2012 Gold Lowell Thomas Award, an honor bestowed by the Society of American Travel Writers Foundation. She has also been recognized by the American Society of Journalists and Authors, and by Travelers’ Tales, which has published several of her essays in its annual Best Women’s Travel Writing anthologies.
PISA LOVES BELLA is Kimberley’s debut picture book—a celebration of travel, good friends, and the importance of being kind to others, and yourself.

My book, PISA LOVES BELLA, stars Bella, the Leaning Tower of Pisa. She's been happily leaning in her piazza for hundreds of years until one day she overhears some unkind words about her unusual appearance. She changes in a way that has her friends and visitors worried their treasured landmark will never be the same again. What will she do?
The rhyming tale is full of joyful art, splashed with wanderlust, and speckled with fun-to-say Italian words and phrases. It ends with subtle but important lessons on the importance of being kind to others, and yourself, and on how choosing the right words can be harmful and helpful.
I am flexible with a program, depending on the venue, but see a 30-45 minute program that looks something like this:
A quick author introduction and chat about what inspired the book
Book reading (my book is around 500 words so it won’t take too long)
Short back and forth learning some fun-to-say Italian words
A Kindness Craft (I’ll supply the materials)
Handouts for home: Italian vocabulary word search (I have an easy and less easy version)
