Author brings meaningful lesson-based book events to students — sprinkled generously with dinosaurs, poetry, and watercolor illustrations.

Jayne Rose-Vallee is an author and publisher of many award-winning picture books. She grew up on a farm in Battle Creek, Michigan, where her mother's love of poetry and quick-witted humor sparked an early appreciation for good rhymes. Jayne is passionate about working with children and brings meaningful lesson-based books and events to students. Her Dinosaurs Living in MY Hair! series weaves teachable moments of individuality, self-esteem, friendship and the environment into beautifully illustrated rhyming stories. Jayne has received dozens of awards for poetry, design, illustrations, and publishing—most notably the Benjamin Franklin Award and INDIES Book of the Year Finalist (2019). In 2018, Jayne founded Literacy for Kids, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit which takes her vision and unites it with a collaborative group of participants, donors, and partners. All proceeds from book sales, presentations, and events directly fund Literacy for Kids.

Speaking Engagements and School Presentations:

Fun. Engaging. Experienced. Versatile. I focus on making a personal connection with each student I meet. I highlight the relationship between art and literacy. Through watercolor illustrations, poetry, beat and rhythm students view reading (and books) in a fresh light. I believe the DLIMH books have messages which start thoughtful conversations. Self-esteem, bullying, friendship, and keeping our oceans clean are topics which, in my opinion, need to be discussed. Adding dinosaurs to anything makes it more fun and lets children entertain new ideas. Dinosaurs are my secret ingredient. Attention to detail and being genuine are my strong points.
